On February 9, at 10:00 AM, Waukesha Public Library will show the documentary Freedom on My Mind. The film explores the tumultuous struggle to register African American voters in 1960s Mississippi, when hundreds of progressive Northern college students went south to participate in the voter registration project. The Ku Klux Klan, police, and local authorities carried out a series of violent attacks against the activists, including arson, beatings, false arrest, and murder.

An informal discussion will follow with coffee and doughnuts provided by Friends of Waukesha Public Library. Please note that this documentary runs 130 minutes. Questions? Call 262-524-3682 or visit waukeshapubliclibrary.org.
