On February 9, at 10:00 AM, Waukesha Public Library will show the documentary Freedom on My Mind. The film explores the tumultuous struggle to register African American voters in 1960s Mississippi, when hundreds of progressive Northern college students went south to participate in the voter registration project. The Ku Klux Klan, police, and local authorities carried out a series of violent attacks against the activists, including arson, beatings, false arrest, and murder.
